MOUNTAIN BIKING IN SIKKIM

The bike and trek itinerary offers an exclusive experience of Sikkim-the Land, its people, the flora & fauna. Biking is on proper memorable roads avoiding high traffic routes and meandering through the lush countryside and forests. The itinerary has been designed with room for flexibility in routes and overnights stays. Also a pilot vehicle preceding the group and a back up jeep will ensure full support to make biking in Sikkim a wonderful experience. |

A trek to Maenam peak (10,500 ft) has been included to offer a change in the programme and also because Maenam offers a truly a fascinating and awesome views of our Himalayas.
The best time to experience Classic Sikkim would be March-May and
Oct- Dec.

Itinerary

Day 01:
|
Bagdogra - Gangtok (Drive) Distance: 124 Km
Meet, assist and transfer from Bagdogra airport and drive 4 hours through the Teesta valley to
Gangtok. Overnight Hotel. |

|
Day 02:
|
Gangtok - Ranka - Martam (Bike) Distance: 29 Kms.
The first day of Biking will start with a slight down hill route to a mountain stream and then level before a gradual climb through Rumtek and then to Martam
(5000ft). Overnight in the Martam Village Resort is an experience of the typical Sikkimese countryside with modern amenities. |

Day 03:
|
Martam-Sirwani (Bike) Distance: 30 kms.
The trail goes through stretches of terraced paddy fields and after a downfall ride we camp along Teesta river at
Sirwani. Overnight tents. |

Day 04:
|
Sirwani -Temi(Bike) Distance: 27 kms.
The route for this day is uphill all the way to Temi(5500ft) which is the only tea garden in
Sikkim. Overnight in lodge/tent near the tea garden. |

Day 05: |
Temi _Rabingla(Bike) Distance: 26 kms
A gradual climb up to Damthang (7000 ft) and level and gradual downhill drive to Rabongla(6500
ft) a small picturesque town of South Sikkim. Overnight in lodges/tents. |

Day 06:
|
Rabongla- Maenam (Trek) Distance: 14 kms.
Trek through the dense forest-an experience of the wilderness, as there are no human settlements
enroute. The view from Maenam Peak (10,500 ft) is the most spectacular and comprehensive that one get of the Sikkim Himalayas. Overnight tents. |

Day 07:
|
Maenam -Borong (Trek) Distance: 12 kms.
The return from Maenam is fairly easy downhill walk to Borong(6000 ft).
Overnight tents in the village. |

Day 08:
|
Borong -Tashiding(Bike) Distance: 39 kms.
A level route through Ralang where you can visit the monasteries and a gradual
climb to Ravongla. From there it is downhill to the Rangit Valley and a 13 km.
climb to Tashiding. Overnight tents/Siniolchu Guest House. |

Day 09:
|
Tashiding-Yuksom (Bike) Distance: 32 kms.
A levelled ride through the cardamom fields and some breathtaking views it reaches
Yuksom, the trekking base for all treks to Kanchendzonga .Overnight at tents/lodges. |

Day 10:
|
Yuksom-Kheocheplari(Bike) Distance: 25 kms.
A distinctive area in the Sikkims geography, slight down hill ride and a steep climb on the second half of the
route. Lepcha community settlements and rich forested
and traditional ambience. |

|

|
Day 11: |
Kheocheplari-Pemayangtse(Bike) Distance: 33 kms.
A steep down hill ride and enroute several water falls and fresh mountain streams the hard ride is
rewarding. Pelling command a spectacular views of the great Himalayas.

Day 12: |
Pemayangtse/Pelling(Rest Day)
The rest day helps you to rejenuvate for the rest of the journey and also to visit the Pemayangtse
Monastery, Walk leisurely to Sangachoeling monastery and the old palace ruins of
Rabdentse. Overnight at
Lodges/tents. |

Day 13:

Pemayanstse to Rinchenpong
(Bike) Distance: 45 kms.
Descend to Dentam and a gradual climb ending with a down hill or rather
straight ride to Rinchenpong.Overnight at Rinchenpong Village Resort. |

Day 14: |
Rinchenpong to Jorethang(Bike) Distance: 33 kms.
A downhill ride amongst the ancient villages and countryside of the western Sikkim and downhill ride to reach
Jorethang. Overnight in lodges. |

Day 15:

Jorethang to
Bagdogra(Drive) Distance: 95 kms.
A 4 hours drive to Bagdogra Airport to catch the return flight to your next
destination from Bagdogra Airport. Trip Ends. |
